Regulatory status
Operator Techteryx Ltd. is a BVI company with no publicly disclosed stablecoin or money transmission license. The former US issuer TrueCoin LLC and TrustToken Inc. settled SEC fraud and registration charges in September 2024 over false fully backed marketing. Roughly 456 million dollars of reserves are litigated across Hong Kong, Singapore, and Dubai after diversion to Aria Commodities DMCC, with Justin Sun having provided emergency liquidity support.
Entity structure
TUSD was created by TrustToken Inc. through TrueCoin LLC and sold to BVI incorporated Techteryx Ltd. in early 2021, with Techteryx assuming full management in July 2023. Reserves were held by fiduciaries including First Digital Trust of Hong Kong, an arrangement now in litigation across three jurisdictions.
