Regulatory status
On Re SAC Ltd. is authorised and regulated by the Bermuda Monetary Authority under a Class IIGB Innovative Insurer General Business licence and a Class F full licence under the Digital Asset Business Act 2018, registration 55347 effective May 2022. The company states it was the first reinsurer approved under both regimes after graduating from the BMA regulatory sandbox. Founded as Nayms in 2019 and rebranded to OnRe in May 2025.
Entity structure
On Re SAC Ltd. is a Bermuda Segregated Accounts Company that both underwrites reinsurance and issues the tokens. ONyc represents a proportional claim on a ring fenced segregated account that is statutorily separate from the general account under the Segregated Accounts Companies Act 2000.
