Regulatory status
USD.ai discloses no operating license in any jurisdiction. The protocol is operated by USD.AI Foundation, a Cayman Islands foundation company, and Terms state the tokens are not insured by any agency. Minting and redemption against PYUSD is limited to KYC verified institutions and the 2026 CHIP token sale used US private placement style restrictions.
Entity structure
Built by Permian Labs Inc., a Delaware corporation from the MetaStreet team, with governance by the Cayman USD.AI Foundation whose subsidiary GPU Finance Ltd. acts as administrative agent on loans. Each borrower holds GPU collateral in a bankruptcy remote Delaware SPV under the CALIBER framework with escrow at a qualified trust company.
