EDGE serves as the native cryptocurrency and governance asset of the EDGE ecosystem. Its functions are designed to evolve as the protocol matures and the community grows. EDGE token holders can progressively influence the direction of the platform and contribute to network security through a delegated validator system.
Governance Rights
ControlEDGE holders can vote on edgeX Improvement Proposals which can include fee structure adjustments, new asset listings, blockchain compatibility upgrades and security protocol enhancements. The edgeX Foundation serves as the sole director of edgeX DAO Limited and is responsible for key strategic decisions. The protocol's governance framework is designed to progressively decentralize decision-making authority to the community over time.

The edgeX Foundation currently stewards the Ecosystem & Community (5%) and Future Reserve (30%) allocations. Future governance proposals may extend to cover matters such as treasury management.
