CC (Canton Coin) is the native utility token of the Canton Network's Global Synchronizer, used to pay network fees (which are burned) and minted as rewards to super validators, validators, and application providers for utility provided to the network.

The Canton Foundation organizes governance and operational work through six Member Committees. Governance is exercised by Super Validators (known institutions admitted by the Canton Foundation) not by CC holders. Decisions use BFT majority voting via an on-chain governance app, with each Super Validator holding equal voting power. Proposals move through Canton Improvement Proposals (CIPs) and six member committees.
