RAIN is the native utility and governance token of Rain Protocol. Holding RAIN grants "Trading Power" (a functional access ratio for participating in markets) and governance via the Rain DAO. The protocol rewards key contributors (market creators, liquidity providers, and resolvers) directly in RAIN tokens.The protocol is overseen by the Rain Foundation.
Governance Rights
ControlRAIN holders govern via the Rain DAO with the ability to vote on protocol decisions. The Rain Foundation independently oversees administrative and development matters, and manages protocol upgrades and treasury actions. The whitepaper frames the protocol as "designed to evolve into a transparently governed system," and several sources note full DAO governance is still being activated.

Rain Foundation provides administrative oversight/development; an advisory board of blockchain figures was appointed in 2026. DAO governance maturity is still developing.

Treasury actions are managed through a multisig controlled by the foundation, according to the whitepaper.

ONThe Rain protocol applies a 5% fee on the total volume of each market and distributes that fee between the market creator, liquidity providers, market resolver and a buyback & burn program.

The protocol is overseen by the Rain Foundation (a Panama legal entity), which monetizes by selling RAIN, including granting Nasdaq-listed Enlivex (ENLV) an option to acquire up to ~272B RAIN at $0.0033/token (vs. market ~$0.013–0.016). Enlivex held 79,568,550,005 RAIN (~$1.14B) as of mid-2026, an extraordinary supply concentration in one public company. The RAIN contract is an upgradeable proxy.
Economic Rights
Value Capture2.5% of every market's volume buys RAIN on the open market and burns it. A further 2.5% funds participation rewards to active contributors (creators/LPs/resolvers), to be paid in RAIN, boosting their Trading Power. RAIN confers no dividend or yield.
