- Discovery Page. Introduce a new Discovery section highlighting applications that have integrated NFID Wallet. Applications are automatically surfaced by tracking connected dApps, with clear separation between apps that support global accounts and those that do not.
- Watch-Only Mode. Allow users to view balances and activity for any Principal without authentication or key import, enabling safer monitoring and research workflows.
- Private Notes for Transactions. Enable users to attach encrypted, local-only notes to send transactions for personal context and record keeping.
- Manual Sync / Refresh. Add a Sync button that clears cached data and refreshes token balances, NFTs, staking positions, and activity history.

NFID Wallet remains the gateway to the Internet Computer, driven by a commitment to DAO governance and technical excellence. As we move into Q2 2026, our focus shifts toward protocol sustainability and ecosystem-wide alignment.

Summary We request the remainder of the grant of 3,085 ICP from the NFID Wallet DAO treasury to fund Q2 2026 deliverables. This quarter focuses on launching the NFIDW-backed Discovery Auction system, expanding EVM-to-ICP interoperability, and executing an upgrade of core DFINITY libraries. By prioritizing library alignment, we ensure that NFID Wallet remains the most compatible and high-performance signer for the next generation of ICP dApps.

This Quarter’s Deliverables:

Discovery Monetization. Launch a decentralized auction system for "Featured App" slots. Core Library Alignment. Comprehensive update of all DFINITY and IdentityKit libraries to support the latest signer features and dApp standards. EVM Bridging & Yield. Enable seamless asset movement between EVM chains and native "Earn" mechanisms for EVM tokens. Proactive Security Alerts. Real-time notification of unrecognized logins with a one-click "Secure Account" session kill-switch. OpenCryptoPay Integration. Direct crypto-to-fiat and merchant payment gateway integration. Why This Matters To maintain our position as the ecosystem's leading wallet, we must prioritize interoperability. By focusing our technical efforts on updating DFINITY libraries and IdentityKit, we empower third-party dApps and signers to utilize the latest protocol features. Furthermore, Q2 introduces the first major utility sink for NFIDW. The Discovery Auction system creates a competitive marketplace for visibility, requiring developers to lock or spend NFIDW, thereby aligning the wallet's growth with the token's ecosystem value. These efforts, combined with advanced EVM bridging, solidify NFID as the most versatile tool for users navigating the intersection of the ICP world.

This emergency proposal seeks immediate DAO approval to execute a critical upgrade on the NFID Wallet frontend and identity canisters. The upgrade patches a newly discovered vulnerability in the fallback authentication interface that lacks sufficient request rate-limiting, potentially exposing the application to brute-force attacks on user sessions and resource exhaustion.BackgroundNFID Wallet relies on a passkey-first authentication model, which is cryptographically secure against automated attacks. However, to ensure maximum accessibility, the application maintains alternative fallback login interfaces (such as email authentication). During a recent internal review of the authentication infrastructure, it was identified that these specific fallback login endpoints do not enforce strict rate limits at the canister level.Vulnerability DetailsThe absence of network-level request throttling on the alternative login interface creates a vector for high-frequency automated requests. Specifically:Login Interface Brute-Forcing: Malicious actors could theoretically spam the fallback authentication endpoints with continuous requests, attempting to brute-force session recovery tokens or overwhelm the identity canister.Cycles Exhaustion: A sustained automated attack targeting these specific URLs could rapidly deplete the identity canister's cycles, causing service degradation or complete denial of service for all users.While no user funds or passkey credentials have been compromised, leaving any login interface exposed to brute-force vectors poses an unacceptable security risk for a non-custodial, DAO-governed wallet.Proposed ActionIf adopted, this proposal will automatically execute a canister upgrade, deploying patched WebAssembly (Wasm) modules to the respective NFID canisters.The patch implements the following security measures:Strict Rate-Limiting: Enforces maximum request thresholds on all non-passkey login endpoints.Exponential Backoff: Introduces a mandatory time-delay mechanism for failed authentication attempts to mathematically neutralize brute-force capabilities.
